Natalie relaxes on my bed, one leg crossed underneath her, the other dangling off the side. She fiddles idly with her hands as she watches me pack.

"You don't seem too excited about this trip, Dante." She observes with a hint of caution in her voice.

"You're not wrong, babe." I admit. "It will be great to see Gigi. She was such an integral part of our team here for so long, and we miss her. But she's doing a great job at OK Special. She's the reason I don't have to fly out more frequently. But visiting with a trusted colleague won't come close to making up for not having you in my arms every night while I'm away."

Natalie's cheeks flush pink in response to my confession. "I'm sure you'll be fine. It's only a week, right?"

"Five days." I perch beside her, taking her gorgeous face in my hands. Stroking her freckled cheeks with my thumbs, I gaze into her emerald eyes. "Five days too many without you."

Sighing, she reaches up and holds on to my wrists. "What are we doing, Dante?"

Kissing her full on the mouth, I remember Miranda's advice to be honest with her. "I don't know, babe. But I'm tired of not knowing. This trip is the perfect opportunity for me to try and figure it out."

"What do you mean?" she asks. Her body tenses with anticipation of my response.

Stroking her hair and pushing it behind her ear, I smile at her. "I'm crazy about you, Nat. You've got to know that. I know I've been hedging for a long while now on naming what this is between us, and I'm sorry for that. You have been nothing but honest about what you want in a relationship, and I want to be the man that can give you everything you want, need, and deserve."

"Dante... "

"Shhhhh... babe. I want to be that man, but I don't know if I'm capable of being all that. While I'm away, I plan to do some work on this shit that has me so... fucked up. Which reminds me... I need to borrow one of your books, is that cool?"

"Sure," she replies. "Which one?"

"Mir wants me to read, Feel the Love. I saw that you have a copy. I'd like to read it while I'm away this week."

Nat blushes again. "Sure, you can borrow it. I may or may not have made notes in the margin. As long as you don't mind... "

"I won't mind, babe." Lightly running my knuckles across her freckled cheek, I sigh heavily. "I wish you were coming with me."

"Yes, but if I came with you, you would find other ways to occupy your free time instead of reading a great book and doing some self-work. So... "

"Right. Fine. You don't have to bust my balls about it."

She bursts out laughing. "My darling. Your balls are way too important to me. I would never."

"Minx!" I reach for her, tackling her on the bed and begin to tickle her mercilessly.

She squeals and giggles uncontrollably, wriggling and writhing beneath me.
